The point isn't the 1.5mil its 1.5 for a runner vs. 1.5 for a dream. You know Chuck Jess has done OK overpaying in the past. Plus does it really friggin matter "IF" she was sold for 800k or 1.5 mil in the scheme of Jess Jacksons life in 2009? I know of a owner who sold a modestly bred filly to Lael for 1 mil plus after she won a non grade turf stakes. She has gone on to win a few Graded races and is a very nice runner. I am not sure it was a good deal or a bad deal for Lael I just know it was an offer that worked for both parties. Repping that Jess overpaid is easy today. the same way you can say a sports team overpays to try and win a championship by giving up more talented young players with bright futures for more established stars. Basically if the horse goes on to do well he didn't over pay a penny, and if the horse stinks he lost a little more then he should have. Who thought Curlin was Curlin when they paid 3 mil?
Though alot of what you said is true, this filly is not a bargin at this price regardless of who bought her. Jackson has enough money to spend way more than 1.5 million on 100 horses but that still doent make it a good price except for the seller.

If the filly sucks at least we have a shot that some of that 1.5 gets back into the game. I am always happy when people overpay for stock. I would imagine someonemight have bid at least 1 mil for them to get Jackson to pay 1.5. So the delta is 500k again in the scheme of Jess 2009 what the heck does 500k mean. You think he is thinking about if he overpaid by 500k. It's all same if you by a filly of 10k or you ante up and get her for 15k whats the difference if you can afford it and have the money.

Of course they over paid the only bargins are the 40k claimers that Marty changes the shoes on "IN FLORIDA" and get to win BC races lol

It doesnt make that much difference and it is nice that a smaller outfit can make a score on a homebred.
