Like others here, I have followed these threads but refrained from commenting because I disliked the venom that is being spewed by some folks on this board. I finally listened to the race call and yes, Rosario's horses name is featured prominently in the later stages of the race but it appears to be due primarily to the burst of speed and continued momentum of the horse. If I was not looking for it ("it" being that the announcer was the agent for the jockey on Ellie L.) I would have thought nothing of the call - I actually would have been impressed and might have believed that the announcer could sense that Ellie L. was moving strongly forward and that the leading horse could falter and might not finish well, thus putting an emphasis on the next most likely horse. I did not hear a bias in the call, but that's my opinion.

What I would be interested to see is a posting of more races where this "bias" is prominent because I don't believe anyone can conclude that this particular announcer is emphasizing one specific jockey in his calls from just one race, I certainly can't. Assuming the Hollywood meet lasts approximately 60 days with an average of nine races per day, that's 540 races to call. If someone can post 25 races (less than 5% of all races this meet) where the majority of DTers would agree that the announcer showed bias towards Rosario's horse in his call then I believe we could show statistical significance to the original posters claim. Without that, it appears we're all taking sides like an elementary school playground fight.

I like Vic's calls alot, precisely because he does notice which horses are coming into contention, he is accurately descriptive of the way they are traveling (relaxed, fighting, etc), he gets excited during a good race, and he doesn't miss much.

I agree with you, the best way to settle it is start 25 polls for each of the races.....then after everyone votes on them and agrees with a clear cut majority there is no prejudice in his calls, hear a certain few call the majority morons. Wait, we already did that. My bad.

No need to. After closing day won't have to worry about your calls on a major circuit again.

I wish you much success as a jocks agent after you are done calling races.
