Dr. Penny was a famed and beloved vet at PHA and is credited with having saved Broad Brush from jumping the outer fence when he veered off the final turn in the PA Derby. Headed straight for the grandstand, Penny at the rail started waving his arms wildly getting Broad Brush's attention long enough for Angel Cordero to straighten the notoriously kooky colt back toward the line.
