Climate is a long time construct. Weather is a short time construct. Even in centuries long periods of global warming or cooling on any particular day or month you will have locations that will be either "warmer" than normal or "colder" than normal within those short time constructs within the long "climate" time construct.

Global warning is a controversial topic. But to take short time periods that are in opposition or in support of the long term "climate" change position on either side is ridiculous. The positions that both sides take in this are pretty comical. Like Hurricane Katrina was the product of global warming...very silly. Like a cold Chicago June is proof that global warming is not occuring...very silly.

Find me 10. You might be able to find a few that are unsure whether global warming is man-made or naturally occurring but you won't find anyone denying that it is occurring.

Because in the end, if it is occurring it is just occurring and getting a billion people to stop driving cars has nothing to do with stopping global warming. The cottage industry is not that global warming is occurring, but that it is definitely caused by man and CO2 emissions is the cottage industry.

I think it is very possible global warming is occurring. There is no proof however that any of it is man made. There will never be any proof of that. Our ability to gather weather observations is vastly superior to 100 years ago and even 30 years ago. Regardless, there is proof of vast global cooling and warming long, long before human CO2 emissions. I'm pretty sure the last ice age came and went without any human assistance whatsoever.

I challenge you to read this stuff (which presents both sides, and current data) and make up your own mind.

Alot of people unfortunately decided global warming didn't exist because they didn't like Al Gore. That's a problem, because it exists independently and having nothing to do with Al Gore.

Point is you can find your gadflies on any issue.
Some of these people who are quite bright are
also natural contrarions.

At Baylor University (Baptist school just up the road
where I went to school U of Texas) they
had big problems with some professors teaching
evolution. This was in the late 70's.

Of course Baylor Regents were also skeptical of dancing at the
time.
