There's a horse in this race, Irish Accent, that is a sad story. She is an 8 year old who was bred and owned by a neighbor of mine and her niece. Sheila Meehan was in her 50's and I met her when I moved here about 5 years ago. A single lady, she was a school teacher and had mild physical handicaps and a lot of health issues it turned out. She loved horses and racing and owned a few with her niece and her brother. Irish Accent was moderately succesful for them a few years ago and then she was claimed by the current connections. Sheila really wanted to get her back as she had bred her and wanted her in a good place to retire. Well Sheila got cancer and died a few months later ( about a year ago). Meanwhile....the new owner/trainer have been running this poor thing weekly sometimes ever since. It's obvious she has nothing in the tank and shouldn't be racing anymore. I've been thinking of just claiming here and trying to find her a home, but it's easier said than done...we'll see..

One nice thing for DeeTee is that KNS landed in one of those rare AP races this year without a horse from any of the following barns:
Robertson
Janks
Stidham
Catalano

Considering those four barns are all winning at least 33% of their races at the meet so far, I think it bodes well for you guys that you avoided all of them.
Best of luck to KNS.

I hope all goes well for this poor horse. Claiming her would probably garner you boat loads of karma points with the racing gods...
