apparently you missed all the talk about candy rides greatness after he beat MDO in his last start...

oh, and just saw that bellamy road is going to hurricane hall, a new operation in ky, and will stand for 10k. best of luck to him. afraid he's going to need it. but then, they all do.

Yes, in an unrestricted Pacific Classic and that MDO was a multiple graded stake winner at 3 and 4 that got made to look rather ordinary. Thats a whole lot different than beating scrappy t wouldnt you say?

I dont think MDO was "great" by any means but he was certainly a more accomplished horse than...Bellamy Road. And although he did lose to sarava and volponi he managed to win a few nice races along the way including the Donn and the travers.

MDO was a good horse and a monster at 9F.

yeah, true...just wish bellamy had been handled more ably. hate to see any horse not be able to show his stuff due to ineptitude. and we're supposed to be the intelligent species...

shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as bellamy road, especially the latter
Candy Ride not in the same breath as Bellamy Road? Are you kidding me?

6 for 6 lifetime, 3 on turf and 3 on dirt. Record mile in Argentina in 1:32 flat, triple G1 winner.

In your opinion, that doesn't stack up to winning the Wood and the Cradle?

Add him to the long list of horses who would surely have won the Derby minus (insert excuse here.)

There is at least one every year.

Bluegrass Cat would have surely won the Derby if Barbaro would have bolted to the rail and sat down to have a smoke.

And that darned Afleet Alex would have surely taken home roses if it weren't for that damned Jeremy Rose taking him down to the rail and keeping him too close.

Does anyone think Sis City was great?

She won like a damn machine by huge margins more than once on her Oaks preps.

Really, does anyone think she will go down as "one of the great ones?"

I don't quite get the logic there. If Dutrow were the magician you are insinuating that he is, then why did she flame out so badly after that?
Certainly if he had magic elixirs and methods he would be able to get her to match those efforts right?
Sis City is no different than many top horses(more often fillies). She simply ran a monstrous effort that bounced her out for good.
her Gulf race was wonderful, but her Ashland was just too crazy fast. She was never the same and became largely disinterested in competing, kind of like Meadow Star after her epic "Mother of all Gooses" race agaisnt Lite Light. She never won another race.
She trained this year according to Rick just like she was top notch. But in the afternoons she simply refused to put out.
If Dutrwo is so "magic" why could he not reverse this?
Are you saying hes only "magic" when he wins?

Absolutely correct ... the record books are filled with fillies who were champions one year ... but who couldn't ... or more likely wouldn't ... run a lick the next year.

And ...

... we know you meant Meadow Star ... not Meadowlake.
