Default dunkirk tirade - potn john white

I too heard the dunkirk arguments and especially felt bad for the caller. For many it is a hobby, as people have real jobs with real stresses and are looking at it as a release not as a profession. I thought the caller made many good points in terms of QRs running style and how it fit with other derby horses versus dunkirk's who may be more favorable pace wise and Steve went over the top with the get a new hobby comment.

There have been many horses who have closed street sense, monarchos, giacamo, fupeg etc that the caller's points were not so out of left field. I agree with tjfrab that it came across as a dunkirk bias. Not sure if its an anti pletcher thing cause of his comments or the price tag on the horse but thats how it came across. I too remember the bet my mortgage against him comment so there's been a precedent for that anti dunkirk stuff for a while now. I agreed with Haskin's take in terms of focusing on the horse.

As for Jon White, not only on hrtv was he touting potn again but he said he thinks hes gonna win the triple crown. I felt bad for the poor girl too that had to work for him. I think Steve should give him a hard time with that similar how he was to the caller on dunkirk or haskin or lauren stich. All Jon does is bring everything back to potn this and potn that. You want to talk bad radio...thats bad radio. I need more objectivity from him.

What's with this sudden rash of "first time" posters?

Been listening to the show for a while now, last couple of years. Have read the forums in the past many times, this is the first time ive felt obliged to post something about the show. Called in a few times, once last year to argue about the substance of the Alabama being a grade 1 given it had 4 horses, only two of which had a shot.

Just thought this whole Dunkirk thing seemed to spark a passion I havent seen or heard in years. It seems like people either really like the horse, 7-1 second future book, or are very anti him as we heard on the show yesterday.

As someone earlier noted it was the most intense show ive heard. As the originally poster said it seemed like there was an anti dunkirk bias from Steve and I didnt get where it was coming from. The horse ran a monster race against a speed 'appreciating' track. At the end of the day he isnt making the derby so how he fits is moot.

The odds at that future book are silly given his current earnings.

We all have a passion for the sport of horse racing. I thought the first post by tjfrab was great. I enjoy the radio show and probably listen about 10 hours weekly whether its live or archived. I am a regular reader of the blog and although I stay on the sidelines this warrants commenting on. I think Steve made the point he was a little harsh suggesting the caller find a new hobby and he apologized to all that felt offended. Lets move on.
