With the Florida Derby handle you might not notice a huge difference, but I also would calculate using the pools what the "pari-mutuel" effect of the bet will be, and make my decision based on the anticipated odds after the wager relative to your estimate of the horse's actual chance of winning.

$300 will make ZERO difference in the pools. You could bet it 5 hours prior to post and it would not change the odds. This is GULFSTREAM on Fla Derby day, not Penn Nat'l or Mountainqueer.
