I know when people get dogs from shelters around here they only want the cost of getting the dogs fixed with all the shots.

I think you are saying they want more than the cost to spay, nueter and vaccinate the dogs. $300 does seem inflated by at last double but it's a while since I've had it done and it is Kalifornia, right?
