i'm not a big fan of polytrack. too soon to tell exactly what affects it will have long-term. i think too many have jumped too quickly on that bandwagon. we already have a surface known to be kinder to a horse than running on dirt, and it's all-natural. TURF!

no one likes wanderin boy. I think he has a shot at a price especially if the conditions are poor. He will certainly have the lead.

I'm either going to be very happy or very sad going with WILD DESERT here...I think he can sit off the pace, he's done reasonabily well in the 'wet' and I have a feeling this is the one Dutrow wanted. (and every time I ignore a horse ridden by Prado who is on the 'cusp' of my selections, he burns me! lol)

A big Booo on Tagg if he scratches...Funny is 2-1-1 out of 5 starts in the Wet. Show us the Derby winner!

i don't understand why tagg is threatening to scratch if it's wet. as you said, fc has done well in the mud.

so, it's raining...need to adjust my pick 6 contest selections...and wild desert will be one i add, as is wanderin boy.
no to premium and sun king.

He was looking for any excuse. Tagg wanted no part of this race. The owners deserved a shot though considering it was in their own backyard. I think he still has many wins left in him, just not grade 1's.

Funny Cide is still a very nice horse. He had won two of his last three, one of which was a $180K grade 3 race. He belongs is grade 3's and grade 2's that don't come up tough. A weak grade 1 like today is still too much for him.

The $250,000 Hawthorne Derby (Grade III) in a few weeks is likely his next race. He should have a great shot there.

You just wish the owners of Funny Cide would understand that he is not a top level runner anymore. He only really was for about 3 months that one year. He's one of my favorite and it is upsetting to see him forced to race in spots that are way over his head.

Thankfully you are not racing manager for Sackatoga. Even though they are pretty clueless at least they are running in races FC is eligible for. The Hawthorne Derby is for 3 year old Turf horses.

Maybe you need more confidence in those "good feeling"''s! Nice call.
