Seriously though what was she doing in Australia that made her bad? I honestly don't know, it's not that I'm defending her. I just enjoyed hearing some of the things like with Baffert this past week discussing Brandon and his height as one thing that made people nervous. That's an actual point that doesn't indicate a bias like 'I lost money and I blame the jock, ergo he/she sucks.' There was some discussion about Gomez vs. Smith that, again, indicated exactly why you'd go with one or the other based on technique.

Kayla said herself she had problems as a younger person and supposedly has it under control so maybe she didn't do herself any favors. One of the other jockeys on the show said she often rides horses anybody else would avoid so that can't help. Does she not place her horse well? Does she manhandle them? What does she do other than not win frequently? Like what would be her fault specifically? I'm just trying to learn.
It's really mostly the horse, I'm sure Kayla is a very skilled rider, but seriously.....if she's in a race where the rest of the field has beyer figures in the 70s let's say.....and she's on a 30-1 shot that has never broken 60.......there's really not much one can do. I don't care if Jerry Bailey is riding that 30-1 shot, the horse just isn't any good and never will be.
