I admit it was a totally self-serving piece because I've been fascinated by this horse for a few years now and wanted to know more, so I put my investigation to good use and Steve was generous enough to offer to post it after giving it a read for me.

I'm a little confused too, but there are worse mares being bred in Illinois every year, I'm sure. While she's no star, she's certainly better than he 0-fer record indicates and there are definitely racehorses who have beaten her that I would consider lesser horses. Then again, we're still talking about the very bottom of the ladder here, so maybe it's just nitpicking at that point.

When it was all said and done, I think I found the connections far more interesting and found the way they feel about her far more interesting than the horse herself.
