Timm, would you please just create one, "I Hate Obama, Everything He Does Sucks!" thread, and you can just post on it endlessly?

While timm can occasionally be a little radical he happens to have a very good point here. This is a disgraceful piece of pork if we were rolling in money. As a economic stimulus it is close to criminal.

no telling how many pork projects get tacked onto bills-by both sides of the aisle. it adds up to hundred of millions or so every year.
next time one of your pols comes back, gives a speech extolling some money he's brought home-will you applaud or question? it's a lot easier to spend someone else's money-but we're ALWAYS the someone else. that money isn't free, we gave it all to the govt, and they choose how to spend it.

There are a number of mistakes in that article...
or maybe an attempt to deceive.

All in all though jobs do need to be created.
But the jobs created must provide some useful
service or produce something useful. We dont want
to pay people for just piling up rocks. And we need to
take a real hard look at how many of these jobs created
are short term.

There.
AHH feel better.

Fixing roads and bridges is something that might might help if it was poured in fast. Everything else smells like pork.

From what I've heard, building a new infrastructure wouldn't hit the economy for 2yrs......not exactly what we need or what we're looking for here.

It can happen quickly. States have bridges already designed but are sitting on those designs because they have no money to build them. If they had the money, the bid letting-begin building timeline can be as short as 3 months.

I will start with the most obvious one...

"No recipient . . . shall use such funds to provide financial assistance to students to attend private elementary or secondary schools." Horrors: Some money might go to nonunion teachers.

Like this is a bad thing???
Private schools dont have to play by federal rules, why give them federal money? Private schools pick and choose what students that take, public schools take on all comers. And the 2nd largest educator statewise, is Texas. There are NO unions in Texas... There is no such thing as a Texas teacher striking (which imo is absurd anyway...) California, the largest education state, does not have many very extensive strikes that I have seen.

I got more...

If ya want.

Basketball calls...off to the gym.

Totally agree. Printing $/borrowing to spend in this fashion succeeds in doing two things for sure: creates more government AND sinks us deeper in debt.

I don't hate Obama...but this is politics...unwise politics! So you can try to find out the facts, OR you can just go with the flow because your side won.
The problems our country faces are enormous, and if you're paying attention
you'll see that the stimulus bill is the same "tripe solution" that's been going on for decades. It would be a shame to forfeit our childrens' futures for an
ineffective band-aid now. That's my story...and I'm stickin to it!

I've been a lifelong Republican. "My side" is a train wreck.

I have been paying attention, and lets see what the GOP and Dems in the Senate rip out of it, as it's not a done deal yet.

No, it's not like the solutions that has been proposed (or implemented) in the last 8 years.

I read the NY Times, and the LA Times. Huffpost and FoxNews. O'Reilly and Limbaugh (but he makes me throw up, alot).

Maybe we could just entitle one thread, "The Obama Years" ?

the reagan revolution---providing arms to both iran and iraq, funding and teaching bin ladin and the mujahuddin(?) how to fight the russians never thinking that they will turn those same weapons on us. tearing down regulations that where meant to safeguard the public from unethical business people-- oh wait-- there is no such thing as bad profits, the list goes on and on
