Pump Up, a four-year-old maiden winner for trainer Steve Margolis, sustained an open cannon bone fracture during a workout on Sunday morning and was euthanized.

The 6-year-old Paraneck Stable mare finished distant eighth, then dropped dead from "cardio-vascular collapse" pulling up after the race. Orpenella, 4 years old, at Southwell on the 29th.
This was her 11th start. She'd never won but had hit the board 7 times in her short career. From the race report (Racing Post)... Orpenella, who hashad plenty of chances, had 7lb to find with the winner. She took them along but was swept aside in a matter of strides before going badly wrong inside the last and she was put down. Rest in peace.
