I don't get how we can vote for more than one on the poll, I wanted to do both I Laughed and Run Burgundy which, I have to say, is brilliant. Only my I Laughed one was counted. Can we not narrow it further to 3 before a "final" vote? There's a lot getting spread around. You can argue more than 50% don't like whatever ends up winning in a couple days.

I really can't believe anyone can complain about the voting or nominations. Did Steve even have to do this in the first place...no, he thought he'd have some fun and allow us to play a small role.

So, let's have a little fun and when the horse wins we can say we helped name it.

Spyder

Hey, wait a minute...Steve, can you name it "Spyder"? Yea, that's the ticket, oh wait, how about "That's the Ticket"

Well, the three most popular are obvious..

I have to admit, that "Run Burgundy" is clever and makes a lot of sense for the Point Given given the dam.

We can use "Redboard" for one of the Smarty Jones colts as they are both chestnuts, and "I Laughed" can be used elsewhere as well..

That's a great idea Steve. I admit, my main issue with Redboard was just that try as I might, it didn't remind me of the racing term, it just sounded like a word that started with Red that I phonetically wasn't as enamored by. Who's ever heard the word "board" and thought it sounded particularly poetic?

I Laughed is one of my favorite lil sayings on this board and Run Burgundy is so much fun. I now feel compelled to watch Anchorman. I was wondering what you'll use to refer to them on the board. RB? IL? Or is it gonna be like SumWon and shorten part of it?

There was a grass horse a few years back that ran the CRC-Tampa circuit named Redboard Phil (pretty sure he was trained by Kathleen O'Connell). I loved that horse because of the name. I always imagined some dude named Phil embarrassed as hell everytime he heard Saltsman or Grunder call his name during a race.

I was just gonna send a PM congrats Danzig! Seriously the whole patting oneself on the back thing wouldn't be remotely out of line. Of course if you're going for celebration, remember Willy Wonka... "Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker."

Thanks to everyone for their great suggestions and for your votes...

The Point Given gelding name has received the final word Simon seal of approval, and will be RUN BURGUNDY. Congrats and thanks to Danzig for the inspiration on the name.

In addition, ELLO ELLE, ("LOL") which emerged out of no where from Bigs and is terrific, will be used on the 2yo Northern Afleet filly, (or possibly the NY bred yearling filly). Thanks to Mike.

We'll be back with more thoughts on the Smarty Jones colts... One has a working name already, but we may use Antitrust's popular REDBOARD on the other...
