I do think that the highlight of the year in the NFL was when Pennington lead the Dolphins over the Jets. I really don't care about either team, but to see Pennington get the revenge over the Jets he deserved was awesome. |

We'll see how Pennington fares today. Hopefully they lose so I don't have to read about him for a few months.

The Jets had to cut pennington to create cap space for Favre. Even if they had the cap space, teams usually dont keep 6 million dollar back up.
The only favor that was done by the jets was the speed of the release. They could have waited until the end of camp to cut him and that would have hurt him. |

It could have (and should have) been happily ever after for both. I just hope Favre doesnt play his usual game. The jets are built to contend NOW and a decent QB could easily put them in the playoffs next year. |

[quote=King Glorious]It's not that the Jets did anything wrong but in essence, what they told Pennington was the they were trying to get to a place that they didn't think he was equipped to lead them to. QUOTE]
I think that you have hit on the point that some are missing. Regardless of the success that Pennington had this season, the jets felt that he was not equipped with the arm to lead them to a superbowl. The jets should be commended for taking the chance and spending the money in the attempt to win the ultimate prize. For all of Favre's shortcomings, he was just a few snaps away from the superbowl last year and he has done it before. |
