It is because it is Woodbine. Not many Woodbine players here so it goes unnoticed.

There has to be a history with S. Husbands that I am too lazy to research. That is a huge suspension for one ride. Not perservering is a major crime (and very tough to police) and I applaud the stewards, but one year? Wow.

what wasn't mentioned in the initial post about the story is that the husbands who won the race was vying for the riding title. there is the thought that the bro didn't persevere in order to help his sibling win the title.

I don't think it is. There is likely more to this story than currently written. The replay of the race is not all that convincing and unless more evidence is released on appeal this will have difficulty holding up. I couldn't find anything on Simon Husbands being disciplined prior.

The lollipop guild will appeal on behalf of Ozzie Canseco.

maybe because a rider gets something for winning a title, but doesn't get anything from the bettors if they hit? i really have no idea why anyone would decide not to ride a horse, but helping out a sibling might have been a good reason not to ride hard.

The Bid picks up on about 20 of these stiff jobs a day, or every time he loses a bet.
