![]() My question is are there many handicappers out there that don't know this ?....even the challenged ones must be catching on.

![]() Very interesting.
Right after BTW mentions that he's betting First of Ten (and the horrendous trip the horse got last out), the horse drops from 9:1 to 6:1, then 5:1 (in two flashes). Damn, talk about a price buster. |

![]() Manipulation of odds? Not saying this is an example but what do you guys think of chart manipulation and fudging the numbers? Some of the descriptions in the charts of late has left me scratching my head...

![]() Whenever I've checked out the 'long' comments in the results charts, they've been pretty much accurate. However, the 'short' version comments, in the PPs are often beyond COMICAL and have nothing to do with the long ones.

![]() I've posted about what I think is the proper way to go. Even in cases where TRAKUS is not being utilized, there is a way to make the charts MUCH more accurate. That's by emulating what they do over in Hong Kong: take pictures at each call/pole, simple enough to do, since the race is being filmed, and then splice them together into a total photo of the race. Needless to say, if I had accurate charts (position not comments, I could care less about the latter) to work with, my video time would be reduced significantly and I could play many more races/tracks.
It's simple enough to chart a race (even without the technology mentioned above) UNTIL the penultimate split, where, in most cases, the camera is focusing on the leaders, and, I suppose, the angle for the chartmaker is changed. This is why, especially at NYRA tracks, a good majority of the charts show horses GAINING the last split when they've backed up the split before it. The HUMP chart, if you will. EQUIBASE is not embarrassed by this; NYRA isn't either (and the other tracks follow suit). I think it's time for each track to have one of its tech support people SCREEN CAPTURE from the video at the splits and then post the results on their site. They need to do it, as they have the multiple angles necessary for this. Then again, LRL and NYRA don't have enough zooms lens fcameras and they probably wouldn't want to invest in a wide angle. Why would they when very few give a **** about accuracy, just as long as their figures (based on this flawed data) are posted on time. |
