Never mind that Curlin finished ahead of Colonel John in the BC, the very same horse that nostrilized Mambo In Seattle at Saratoga.
The Travers has proven to be a pretty unproductive race, with its two next out winners (Court Vision and Tale Of Ekati) arguably poorly spotted in the Travers in the first place, with the former seeming to prefer turf and the latter favoring one-turn. Note losses by Pyro, Harlem Rocker, Macho Again, Cool Coal Man, D'Tara, and Tres Barrachos (not forgetting Mambo In Seattle's embarrassing efforts) also out of that race.
Whether or not he is a Travers winner (do you hold
Belmont winner D'Tara in high regard as well?) he is completely overmatched against the likes of Commentator.
