i know i'm an oddball. doesn't bother me.
Be fair - in Arkansas, there probably wasn't a single Republican on the ballot in the first place!

Really? Arkansas is traditionally one of the reddest states in the nation (Billy not included.)

it's an odd state. that's why i laugh when people plant labels. someone is liberal, or conservative, etc, etc. but many people defy labels.

arkansas has many folks who are conservative in their viewpoints on social issues such as gay marriage, abortion, but are liberal leaning otherwise. oh, wait..i mean dem-leaning. that liberal word is frowned upon around here.

Before Tuesday, there were 75 D and 25 R in the AR state house and 27-8 D vs. R in the Senate. I think R's picked up three seats the other night, but there are still at least 70 Dems in the state house.

Probably the Dems version of H.R. Halderman for Nixon! He's described as a pitbull.......that will be great for reaching across the aisle.

He is in the Clinton-mode of being fairly partisan and yet politically centrist at the same time. His experience in the White House and in Congress probably make him a good pick for the CoS job.

However, in 2007 Emanuel strongly advised the freshmen members of Congress to avoid going on the Colbert Report because they were always made to look like such morons. As a big fan of that show, I was pissed.

All's I know is that not a single person running for federal office in Arkansas - including four D's - had an opponent. Their state legislature is like 3:1 D's to Republicans. They might vote red on a federal level, but that is a state that is absolutely dominated by Democrats on the state and local levels.

i know there was a huge amount of folks with no opponent. but i remember when pryor ran against hutchison, i voted for pryor. when some ultra-zealot nutjob was running for lt. gov--oh yeah, halter, that guy's a freak--i voted for our current, democrat lt.governor-and he's the one who got the lottery on the ballot, and it passed-amazing! now, we're all going to hell apparently because of gambling.

Wow, I had no idea it was so Democrat leaning in-state.

But Arkansas STILL has more slot machines at thoroughbred racetracks than the 'progressive' state of New York
