![]() Seems to me that those that have the "stones" to stand up to bullies get to have a laugh when the bullies back down.
The current nonsense has gone on for far too long. Socrates said, "To thine own self be true." So, when you know you are on firm ground, just follow your convictions. Never display fear. That plays their "hand". There are others that believe as you do. And, "the truth will make you free." Seems to me that so many "Americans" have forgotten that they have the right to stand up and say they oppose what is wrong, whether it's being labeled as "unpatriotic" for opposing a fabricated war, or anti-Jew for opposing Israel's belligerant policies. If our ancestors had feared speaking out for what they believed was right, we'd still be paying taxes to Britain, people of African desent would still be enslaved, and we still would be bombing Hanoi. Unfortunately, unless freedom is asserted, there are those that will assume it isn't of consequence....yours, mine, but definitely not theirs. The truth will out! |

![]() Oh my God, what is wrong with this country? How did a bunch of religious zealots wind up dictating governmental policy?
Let alone the fact that evolution is about as well-established a theory as you're going to find, but what are we thinking teaching our kids religious theory that's going to leave them behind in education when compared with kids overseas? There is such an anti-intellectual bias in this country, and I don't know when or how it started or how to get people to understand that ignorance is not actually something to be proud of. In fact, one SHOULD read the news. I, for one, want my President to be the smartest guy in the room... In the words of that great philosopher, Pink, "What happened to the dreams of a girl President/She's dancing in a video next to 50 Cent" |

![]() The omission is inadvertent, said Katherine McLane, a spokeswoman for the Department of Education, which administers the grants. “There is no explanation for it being left off the list,” Ms. McLane said. “It has always been an eligible major.”
Another spokeswoman, Samara Yudof, said evolutionary biology would be restored to the list, but as of last night it was still missing. Well I assure plenty of people will get it restored. Hopefully a clerical error. If not, not terribly suprising what some folks try to pull off. On this issue the Republican Religious right has led the party into very shallow water. George Will is one of the few Republicans that actually speaks up about this and basically says it is stupidity for the Republican party to have anything like this and has also said it is absolute stupidity to have creationsism in a SCIENCE classroom. So the party is not all nutty. |

![]() Yeah, teaching creationism as a science is basically like teaching science as a religion. You can't mix the two. How can you prove that God exists? Do we have any tangible, concrete, observable evidence that God exists? H e l l no (no pun intended)! I'm all for religion, but there is no way that you can prove or disprove it exists as a fact. It is a spiritual belief, and that is what it needs to be taught as. Also, evolutionary biology is a very important aspect of science. Just what are the people in Congress trying to prove? Americans need to give the people in Congress/White House a wake up call, not just on this issue, but many, many others as well. They are over-steeping their boundaries and ignoring the U.S. Constitution in numerous different issues. It is getting scary...they have too much power.
Has anyone else heard anything else on the situation? |

I haven't heard much on this...seems buried somewhere. There is a big break through happening today. In a "nut shell", a virus has been attached to certain melanomas (skin cancer) so that the body's immune system can identify and attack the invader. This means that chemo, radiation, surgery, and other strategies are no longer neccessary. This scientist has worked for thirty years to find this. I hope he receives the Nobel for his efforts. This gives me hope that scientists, unconstrained by "religious agendas" will help many. Today's finding has huge implications. True quests are undeterred by power. The "finding" deminishes the power. Therein, many gain. DTS |
