I wish him the best, and hope he gets the chance to prove me wrong, but he was never that good anyways. I don't know what the hype was all about. He's much too slow to play at an elite level in the NBA.

You new yorkers are tough philly.

He is barely 20 years old and had one year in college and that year was abbreviated by yet another injury.

At 7' 2" he is never going to be quick. But...he can move for a guy that size. He can jump and block shots like a young Mutombo. Basically he can change a team's interior defense right away.

Offensively he can shoot with either hand and play with his back to the basket which is becoming more and more rare among NBA big men. He needs to develop moves in the paint but again he is only 20.

If he can stay healthy (HUGE "IF"), Oden will be a dominating NBA center if not offensively then certainly defensively.

Like I said, he's definitely a good character guy (generally lacking in the NBA), and plays the game the right way- so I find myself rooting for him, but I was not blown away by him in college. Just being tall doesn't make you a great player- see Sean Bradley, George Muhresan, et al.

Philski...Ohio State was 35-5 and in the nc game with this freshmen center.

He's far and away unlike those other 2.

Give him his 3rd healthy year at the outside and this guy will dominate defensively.

OK, bad comparison, but you get my point. That was an excellent team/coaching job, I honestly feel his point guard buddy might end up being the better player of the two in the NBA though.

.

he looks like grandpa lebron james in that nike commercial. I'm not surprised this guy keeps getting hurt b/c he looks like he's 42, surprised he hasn't broken his hip yet

bynum is in his THIRD season. His first year he could barely walk and chew gum.

This was Oden's FIRST game and he got five boards and a 1 block in 13 minutes.

Its useless to compare the two. Its like comparing a first time starter to a horse that just finished the triple crown series.

You fail to mention Oden and Bynum are only 3 months apart in terms of age. As a 19 year old Bynum averaged 8 points a game, 6 rebounds and almost 2 blocks a game in about 22 minutes a game. Yeah, he could barely walk and chew gum. Would Oden have done that in the NBA? I doubt it. Everyone saw what Bynum could do last year, so i won't bore you with his stats. Like I said, I don't think Oden could warm Bynum up. It's my opinion and we won't know how wrong or right it is until Oden actually proves what he can do in the NBA. His college stats are meaningless now.
age doesnt mean ****. Its nba experience that matters. Save half of a season in college, that was Oden's first game since high school. Lets lookat Bynum's FIRST year:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/teams/...avg=pg&split=0

The only thing Bynum was "warming up" was the bench.

these were the stats if you dont feel like opening the link:

46 0 7.3 1.6 0.7 1.0 1.7 0.2 0.09 0.48 0.4 0.53 1.2 0.0

My prediction was based on up to his third year out if he can make it that far.

To Hossy;

Oh I will agree....I only make a projection based on what I saw of him in one year ( hurt) at Ohio State. He could be snake bit,but I think he'll be a big time player if he gets over the injury bug. Even then I may be proven wrong.

But that's like SkidsMommy be proven stupid;happens all the time.
