i expected student council on there as the best value-and came here just to see if he was there. been working well from what i've read, and i think he's live-and at those odds, would be well worth playing on top, using in exotics, etc.

I agree on Goldikova in the mile, perhaps the day's most likely winner. Though I would prefer softer ground to SA's very firm turf course. If she handles that and the California heat it's really hard to get past her.

I just hope we see the real Goldikova today, I read it's hot in California and that would be the main worry for me if I play a European horse today. Only one Euro has run well from day 1, though it is a small sample it can be something to look at if it continues.

i'd be more concerned about how crowded it might be on the front end. yeah, the heat's a factor, but what will happen if all the horses who like to lead try to?
i hope she does well tho, i always root for the ladies when they face the gents.

The turf course is NOT hard..

Two things were/are at play on the grass course... #1, the rails had been at 24' all meet as they were saving the inside paths for this weekend. As a result, that significant section of the turf is softer than the portion they've been running on. #2, the course was actually heavily watered yesterday and had PLENTY of give to it...

John Velasquez told Haskin last night that when he came off after the Juvy Filly Turf, his boots were soaked. Bill Mott told me the same thing this morning as well. If you look at the finishing order of the elder F&M's in fact, you'll notice the hard ground lovers faired poorly. Don't buy into the 'rock hard turf' suggestions.

That's very helpful Steve, thanks! I'll factor that into my selections.

Already used this info and a few others from your show to have a very good day yesterday. I think the synthetic complaints are simply not warranted. The track plays off the lead. Being 1st of 2nd at the 1/4 of any race yesterday was not the place to be.
