i tell you what else is a shame. this is a huge choice imo. so, a couple of rushed debates with limited time to answer, and only the two candidates. wonderful. glad that we go all out to elect a leader. i think everyone should vote for a third party candidate, that would get a lot of attention if barr or nader could get more than a blip on the screen, wouldn't it?

people should not view a third party candidate vote as a wasted vote. if enough did it, it would add up. might not get the guy elected, but it could certainly sound an alarm i would think.

![]() I've said from the beginning that only racism could defeat Obama this election, not saying all McCain supporters are racist, of course not, but with the economy in the toilet and having more and more crap dropped on it every day, an unpopular war and the undeniable links between Bush and McCain...how could McCain win??? The good news, most folks who are racist have long since committed to McCain (hell, they'd line up to vote for George Wallace) so this demagoguery should backfire on McCain/Palin by turning off the undecided folks. I expected McCain to play the race card at some point...hell, he voted against Martin Luther King Day and removing the Confederate flag from the S Carolina capital building...frankly speaking, I don't trust the man regarding racial issues! Palin...she's a mindless attack dog, which I guess makes her an ideal VP candidate for the Republicans...she winks at the camera and cracks jokes. Obama hopefully will call McCain on this rhetoric...and yes, one does share in the responsibility for such crap...perhaps not legally, but certainly morally! Inciting violence, racial hatred, perhaps even worse isn't anywhere in the Constitution...this is vile and hardly the "good judgement" that McCain keeps claiming to possess! I attended a George Wallace rally in Hagerstown , MD way back when...he never directly attacked black folks, he left it to his audience but the message was clear...this is the same crap!!!

![]() For anyone who is endorsing Obama. Do you have any questions or at least a little intrigued about his ties in the past? Whether it is Ayers or Wright or anyone else that is being dug up. What are you feelings on the issue?
Any questions about why all his college transcripts are closed? John Edwards had an affair, and it seems that he has disappeared from the face of the Earth. But you have a guy who is weeks away from being President with some sort of link/ties to a terrorist and a racist minister. Does it intrigue you at least a little bit?

His 'relationship' with Ayers wasn't much of a relationship at all, and honestly, spare me all the outrage over a 'racist minister'. Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell have said things very similar to what Jeremiah Wright said (America deserving 9/11), and I don't see anyone screaming 'kill him!' about McCain for associating with those two nutbags. Big ****ing deal there's a black pastor who has resentment towards white people that Obama knows. I love how this white racism at McCain rallies is glanced over, but there's a black guy who doesn't like white people (one who Obama denounced) and everybody loses their ****. Get a grip. If you really think, after the guy has been campaigning for two years, that Obama secretly hates white people and loves domestic terrorism, you're a moron. Sorry, but you are. It's one thing to decry his lack of experience or say he hasn't proven himself yet, but these insinuations that he's some Manchurian candidate secretly bent on turning America upside down the moment he gets into office are so absurd and batshit crazy, I can't believe I just typed three paragraphs in response to them. |

"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites." "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white." "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names." "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela." These are real quotes from his book. I guess it's a matter of opinion as to what he really meant while writing it, but I was insulted when I read it myself. Sorry, but I don't like racism on ANY front.

First of all, did you honestly read the whole book or were these snippets? Again, you have to read everything in their full context. Having said that, I didnt find what he was saying offensive or racist at all. Is it offensive if I say that my role models were white women because identify more with them? My husband has ethnicity on his mother's side, is it bad if he chooses role models from that ethnicity? It is only natural, especially in this country, to embrace that which makes us diffferent. I think it is easier for a white person to sit and judge a man for being racist when that person has never been judged themselves for the same thing. |

He had no identity and he was trying to find one. Obama is one guy who can clearly identify with many backgrounds. His life has been extraordinarily diverse. He admits his meanderings to try and find where he belongs. And I am going to sound like a sap for saying this: I think he understands the melting pot of America as well as, if not more than any politician we have ever had run for president. This is NOT a hateful man. It is really not fair to make him seem like one. This has long been a trick of the Democrats... Demonize the opposition. Republican's now go for "the black man hates you" jugular. Its repulsive. |
