wow Tiago was like a gazillion wide. With a better trip he would have won.

Default The typical Mike Smith 8-10 wide move

Yes, he could have won with a "smart ride" which is an oxymoron when Mike Smith is the jockey. Stardom Bound is good enough vs. her competition to overcome that ride but Tiago is not....

The ride on Tiago was so bad i was embarassed for Smith.

I thought Spirit One was interesting. I don't know if it was the ride, the unfamiliarity with the surface, or the colt being too amped up prerace, but he ran in spots throughout. Broke well, settled nicely early, made an early bid to reach contention between horses, lost position, then surged back into it at the 1/16th pole just as Well Armed rebroke from the pack. Finished a solid 5th.

Hopefully his connections will use this race as a building block and continue to point for the Classic, rather than target one of the turf races. With a more focused run, he could threaten for a placing I think.

that horse had a more than winning trip today, yes he had to swing out for the stretch but that hardly cost him anything......you have to run down a tiring front running on that track and he could not......can you see major sucker horse in the classic, especially if there or more views that the trip cost him the win.

please explain this.... how was the center of the track the place to be ? street boss, clearly the beat and most talented sprinter in his race, gets a amazing pace to run at, but could not get by, please dont tell me the 8 is better then street boss

In the first race, a Sadler horse ran his eyeballs out (surprise, surprise), the pace setter finished second and a hopeless longshot down the center of the track got up for third, while the O'neill horse who stayed on the rail wasn't moving as well and finished 5th.

In the 3rd, the winner made a wide move on the turn and wore down the winner.

Then you have Zenyatta and Stardom Bound who would have won wherever they were on the track, but still, they were out wide.

The winner of the Ancient Title is another Sadler, so obviously you have to take him with a grain of salt, but again, 4 wide move into the turn. Took over and just held off Street Boss. Street Boss was in the right place on the track.

In the Goodwood, the first 4 finishers all were out in the center of the track.

In the last, the winner, second place finisher and 4th place finisher all out wide or in the center of the track. Even the horse that just got up for 3rd was pretty wide.

All of the jockeys are moving wide. It's kind of like Keeneland in that aspect. If Smith was the only one doing it, I might be able to see a gripe, but when they are all doing it, it just seems unfounded.

geez ...Hoss I thought that was a good analysis of the days racing
