Out of curiosity, does horse racing have a paid lobbyist at the federal level? Oh, and congrats Steve and to all of the other panel members.

American Horse Council is the heavyweight hitter in DC on behalf of equine interests.

(And thx.)

Obviously I have no clue, but why try and tackle a gorilla(tax laws) for the first battle? Why not get the ADW situation ironed out, make it a success, and then go and tackle the bozo's at the IRS.

The tax battle has already been a bit of a seven years war to this point. They aren't just starting. Peggy Hendershot, who is the NTRA's senior vice president of legislative affairs, has already carried the ball about 97 yards on the drive for the tax reform, and getting a house resolution drawn was a huge achievement already. Now it needs to get passed. Legislators need to be educated as to the nuanced benefits of changing these tax laws...

I'm not sure that the ADW scenario is an area where anyone but the business concerns involved (platforms-tracks-horsemen) can craft a solution. The best we can do as a horseplaying community is loudly and firmly voice our frustration to the parties involved... make them understand that they are losing our interest by acting as if our money is taken for granted.

Finally you get some recognition for what you know about the game and what you do with that knowledge to the benefit of players and and horseflesh alike.
All that's left is 4 years of night time law school and you'll be ready for any legislative calling the future may bring. Byk Esq. has a nice ring to it....don't you think?

Congrats Steve you deserve the privilege to have your voice heard....

Congrats Steve! Do you know if, or by whom you were nominated? Or were you hand picked by Moser? Either way someone made great call.

Greg
