I couldnt imagine he would be that price. In my humble opinion, 5/2 is highest he would go.

Curlin was 2:5 against two BC Turf champs in his turf debut. Big Brown has a phony turf win on rock hard turf.

How can he realistically be above even money?

I won't say Big Brown is better than Easy Goer because he won the Derby/Preakness while EG lost them. A horse has got to do something that makes him stand out in a historical perspective. I don't think BB has. I think he's clearly made himself the best of his crop. Nobody argues that. But how much does that mean when the crop is considered one of the weakest in history? Does anyone really believe that Big Brown did something that Smarty Jones, Point Given, Funny Cide, Alysheba, Hansel, Sunday Silence, Afleet Alex, Thunder Gulch, etc....couldn't have done? I don't. Circumstances may determine what you get but they don't determine how good you were in getting them. Big Brown is a fine horse. But for my money, he's not anywhere close to the top of the list of best 3yo's in this decade and I don't think he's my list for best five horses of this year alone.

Who would possibly be on your list for top five horses this year ahead of Big Brown? Also if he wins Saturday and the BCC, does he move up in your overall opinion?

Huh? I'll be the first to admit my opinion is wrong a lot more than it is correct. If you think Big Brown presents a sound wagering opportunity to make money then all I can say is good luck. If I wager on the race, and quite frankly I could care less about this race, we'll be on different ships.

I said this based on the statement of another poster that strong competition would be in this race. This makes me assume BBs odds will be better for betting since the Ky Derby.

Curlin, Heatseeker, Zenyatta, Proud Spell, Commentator, Indian Blessing, maybe Ginger Punch.

What? No love for the horse who has won 16 in a row?

Peppers Pride?

BTW, the kid on the Dogwood horse in this Saturday's Monmouth Race is Kendrick Carmouche.

In the spirit of the "six degrees," Kendrick Carmouche's Dad was the regular jockey for Hallowed Dreams......one of the other horses who has won 16 in a row.

Sylvester Carmouche.

Sylvester Carmouche got lost in the fog on a track one day. But he never had a mount on Lost in the Fog.

(if you've never read the Sylvester Carmouche fog story, do a quick search and I'm sure you'll find it and be entertained as a betting fan)

Kendrick Carmouche of the Charles Town circuit? I'll pass.

Do not ignore Proudinsky if the course has taken a bit of rain. German-breds have to contend with soft courses quite a lot, so the horses who run in the big races must have ability in soft ground, which they pass on to their offspring. That's what gave him the edge in New Orleans.

Brown is a rockstar. Monmouth park will put on a show and there will be a good sized crowd.
Maybe even play some Springsteen.

Highly unlikely that there will be a good sized crowd. Monmouth is not going to ever get a big crowd once the summer is over. 10,000 is probably what you will get although they will come up with something a little higher for pr reasons.

Look for a much larger crowd than what you are saying.
