At first glance, this appears to be uncontroversial. Clearly, she's very talented at up to a mile; probably as good as any filly in the country.

Yet, if you go back and watch yesterday's race, I believe you'd agree that pretty much no filly, including Pure Clan and Backseat Rhythm, would've been able to win with the trip that Ariege got. The way the race played out, she just provided one additional move in a last move race. A more patient ride has her moving WITH rather than before BR and I'm not so sure that BR would've gotten the best of it (even with all the EXTRA BS that Castellano brings to the table in stretch runs).

There's not much that separates most of these horses --- there's much that separates them in terms of the rides (and setups) they get, however.

This is the best comment on this thread so far. If PC gets a better ride today then she probably wins. Just if BR got a better ride last out she would have at least hit the board.
