There are also people in more rural parts of this country that even view him as Muslim, based soley on his name.
I don't disagree about this, but how much does 'rural' voting really matter when it comes down to it. I don't know, but my guess is that populated areas are what pulls votes.

I know that when I was in Carbondale, which is the boot of Illinois, 335 miles south of Chicago, people down there didn't vote for **** because they knew their vote didn't matter.

Rural voting matters alot more than you think.

But doesn't this open up this chick to the same experience issues as they are targeting for Obama?

yes it does, but maybe that issue becomes a draw now. how does either side use that issue anymore?

I understand the pick on one level, but surprised that McCain would choose to neutralize the biggest Obama weakness

McCain doesnt lack experience, I think that offsets Palin's lack of, of course McCain is the one running for president. In Obamas case he lacks all experience, and I do not believe an experienced vice offsets that.

it might open up more opportunities than it closes. it kinda neutralizes Obamas change mantra.

it might be a better overall strategy, getting people to want to vote for McCain rather than simply against Obama.

its a gamble that will depend entirely on how well she comes across, and how prepared she is for the big stage.

I know as little about politics as possible but have always been intrigued. Kudos to the McCain camp for keeping this under wraps - no one in the media saw this one coming.

I tend to think that Mccain/Palin has a solid chance to win now. You gotta think that with the pick of a mother of five will surely draw many more female votes then if he would have gone with Romney Liberman etc etc.. Wild that she resides in Alaska, as far removed from DC as could be. Hence, no media attention.

This is going to be a very interesting couple months and are we looking at the possibility of another record turnout?

Poor Johnny's got no chance of making it through four years without a sex scandal. His wife hates the Washington life and will be back home nodding off
