I have never once watched a convention or any of that good stuff, but yesterday, I was flipping back and forth between the Cubs game (oh my, just turned it on when Ramirez was SWINGING the bat for a grand slam, serious remote control skills) and Obama rocking the microphone.

Oh yeah....he strikes me as the rap type. Obama is about as black as I am.

I just took the time to read through his speech from last night

I gotta admit I got a big chuckle at the beginning when I read his thank you "to Ted Kennedy, who embodies the spirit of service"

Give me a break...

it kinda bothers me... this whole lovey dovey Obama/Clinton thing going on the past few days... after they both were at each others throats the past 9 months.

I guess Obama had to... but I would have loved to hear him say.. "fucl< her and her husband.. I can do this without them."

Granted that would have been a dumb thing to do... just would have loved to see it!

i got many chuckles. One of them was when he said that he was eager to debate McCain, McCain tried to get him into a whole series of debates over the summer but Obama declined. Now he's throwing down the gauntlet?

Hilarious guy, I wasn't speaking in terms of that, I was just using a slang rap term for a rapper that is 'flowing' or 'spitting'.

It is ok if you aren't 'in the know', Scuds will set you straight

I understand that, personally, and this is my opinion, but America doesn't see him as black. Sadly, if he were 'darker' I think he would have no chance at being president.

1. I forgot more about politics than you will ever know

2. Venture your ass out of Chitown and you might, just might realize there is more to this country than big cities. There is still a great number of people in this country that view him as black...no matter how light skinned he may be. There are also people in more rural parts of this country that even view him as Muslim, based soley on his name.

I don't disagree about this, but how much does 'rural' voting really matter when it comes down to it. I don't know, but my guess is that populated areas are what pulls votes.

I know that when I was in Carbondale, which is the boot of Illinois, 335 miles south of Chicago, people down there didn't vote for **** because they knew their vote didn't matter.

Rural voting matters alot more than you think.

But doesn't this open up this chick to the same experience issues as they are targeting for Obama?

I know as little about politics as possible but have always been intrigued. Kudos to the McCain camp for keeping this under wraps - no one in the media saw this one coming.

I tend to think that Mccain/Palin has a solid chance to win now. You gotta think that with the pick of a mother of five will surely draw many more female votes then if he would have gone with Romney Liberman etc etc.. Wild that she resides in Alaska, as far removed from DC as could be. Hence, no media attention.

This is going to be a very interesting couple months and are we looking at the possibility of another record turnout?
