The Travers was won in a 106 Beyer and the King's Bishop was won in a 103. I wonder when the last time was that both those races were that low.

Beyers are subjective to so many factors on that particular day. CJ's beyer was the highest for the week-end action in states across country and he even bested ginger punch and others. like Iv'e always said if Beyers was that accurate we would all be rolling in the money.

Do you know what every past Travers winner would have done to Ginger Punch? The fact that there is even doubt as to whether Colonel John could beat Ginger Punch is evidence enough of how weak this 3yo crop is.

I don't ever say one horse can beat another until it happens. I was just commenting about CJ had best beyers for the week-end stakes. So that must account for something. Some good horses ran this past week-end, like I said beyers is subjected to so many factors. What those are, I'm now that sure. But he won a 1 1/4 prestigiuos race and that is all that matters. So you are saying if there is doubt IF CJ could beat Ginger Punch then the whole crop is sub-par? whose doubt is that yours? That's an opinion by you not factproven on the track.

Ginger Punch would have got eaten alive in a big field full of colts like the Travers. Of that, there is little doubt. It's one thing to beat four or five fillies and mares; another to beat a full field of colts and geldings in August.

I have my doubts about Annihilate 'Em (1973).

There were a few in there that are capable of running significantly faster, but pace and trip did them in. . .

That's my point. Those factors affect Beyers along with many others. If CJ or any horse in the race who got bumped bad break, had no room to run they all would have run a better time . That's why Beyers in one race does'nt mean the horses in that race could not post higher figures.
