but i bet dutrow would say that kent is the better rider.

just being facetious with the above. i saw the story the other day, really cool stuff. edgar is a good guy, easy to root for. unlike some in this sport.

I agree 100% and it's a nice thing to see a class act react accordingly in racing. Can't say, nor heard a bad thing about him.

Nicest people I've meet at AP the last couple of years were Pat Day and actually Julien Leparoux (even with meeting Bailey and Stevens). Leparoux was a very nice guy and a pleasure to talk to for a few minutes.

I remember when I was a young kid me and my dad went to santa anita. My dad was a huge fan of Chris McCarron and on this particular day he yelled "happy birthday chris" as he was walking towards the jocks room just after he rode a race. Hearing this, ran to my father and thanked him and held a small conversation with him. He soon jetted fast to the jocks room to suit up for the next race.

I cant think of any other sport where an athlete would take time and thank a fan face to face instead of in front of a camera.

Julien was the same way with me. Ran a smaller stakes race at AP on million day. Came back to the paddock afterward, and won due to a good ride (won due to a better jock ride). I said to him walking by "nice ride Julien!" (cashed a ticket on him).... came over and talked and thanked me for saying it. Nice guy and due to it I'd wish him nothing but the best. (meet a bunch of bigtime sports guys before and he was truly a good one).
Another one of the guy's you wouldn't think of maybe as a nice guy was Hershel Walker. Meet him, wanted to get his autograph... went up to him, said " Mr. Walker, nice to meet you." His reply.... " My name's Hershel... I'm just a normal guy like you. Nice to meet you!" It's good to see people react that way. Pat Day was that way, so was Gary Stevens.

Not to mention how Prado did everything he could and acted immediately and wisely to help comfort Barbaro in the Preakness.
