You might want to rethink that for a second Chuck.....who set the pace in the 2007 Whitney and where did he finish?

"On his best day he's as good as any horse ever," said Zippyneedsawin on Wanderin Boy.

I dont see why his comments is so far fetched? I am not sure of being as good as any horse ever but when Commentator ran his best races he did it with Beyers of 120 or higher (4 times) from sprints to route races. How many horses can we say achieved that? True, he is very inconsistent but when he is on his A game he can contend

Thanks.

My point, of course, was that Wanderin Boy set the pace that day, and still held on for second. Now, Commentator is a better horse ( duh ), and had he been in that Whitney, Wanderin Boy most likely would not have, and I think it is fair to say that if Wanderin Boy could have held for second that Commentator certainly could have had a real say in the final outcome.

Very likely.

While it is a dumb quote, it doesn't even compare with the moron at IEAH.

When explaining why he is going to the Haskell instead of the Travers.

"We're trying to avoid the heat; it's a lot more hot and humid [at Saratoga], it's a lot cooler down by the Jersey Shore."

I love Monmouth but it could be the most disgusting place on earth some days.
Saratoga is nice and cool in the mornings.

He should have just said NYRA won't pony up the $50K appearance fee. People might respect him for being honest, although the owner and trainer of Big Brown don't seem to be big on honesty.

No one was beating Lawyer Ron last year.
I mean lets be realistic here. The 2 Whitneys Commentator won were on a very speed biased track with a brilliant ride and this years softball version with a soft pace. He is not a horse that can win these kinds of races without the exact right trip.
