They ought to measure the true distances down the rf line and ,most importantly---straight away right.
Old photos show straight away right before the renovations was 344 feet. That's mighty short. I think it's even shorter . |

If I didn't hate the Yankees so much I might actually like the place.

Parking in the area is an issue but they could just build a huge parking garage instead of the lot it will be, problem solved.

That was bad enough because there were a whole slew of events at Cleveland stadium that would shock you. So they threw away a real treasure....but I would have gone along with it if they would have continued to build a shoreline attracting more locals for fun stuff ...and even tourists. Instead they build a fb stadium at the same site and all the parking spaces that go with it and it's used 10 times a year. Only the government can get away with that kind of idiot stick planning. |

Don't make me squish your head.
If you were ever there...you wouldn't say that. FB will never be the same in person or on tv. |

Didn't that place seat over 80,000? My buddies went there opening day quite a few years ago (early 90's or late 80's) when they were supposed to play the Yankees. The game was cancelled because of snow They spent the evening at the bar in the hotel and then drove back to NY (but did get fireworks on the way home!) ![]()

It's largest seating for bb was about 78,000,but cut to 73,000 when they closed the mid section of the bleachers off.Standing room for bb got them to 86,000 one time. FB sat over 79,000 ...almost 80 and they hit as high as 86,000 with standing room until the fire marshall got wise.

The designs for the area will be all grass and a smaller infield for kids to play on. A parkland setting run by the NYC Parks and Recreation Dept. The new stadium would be built, as has been reported previously, atop Macombs Dam Park, a public park immediately to the north of Yankee Stadium. The original stadium - which had been variously been reported to be fated to become a museum or partially retained - would, at least according to the model displayed, be razed, with only the field and perhaps a few thousand seats remaining as a Little League and softball field.

Was in attendance the night Darryl Strawberry hit 3 HR's against Big Hurt and the White Sox in 96 I believe it was. I almost got a foul ball by him in the same game, but had my hand stepped on by some older gentleman.
Yankee Stadium is an excellent place to see a ballgame, just knowing all of the history it has behind it. Fenway was nice as well, but I must say that Im a sucker for Camden Yards. The warehouse, combined with Babe Ruth's birthhouse and the Inner Harbor makes it a must visit.

agree, Camden is my favorite place to see a baseball game, besides Limeport Stadium in Limeport, PA of course! center field fence is 485 ft from home plate and the center field itself is sloped upward! http://www.limeportstadium.org/index.cfm The new citizens bank part in Philly is nice too! |
