I've been tracking horse racing relentlessly since 1986. I've 'capped so many races that if I was able to get an exact count, I would probably be embarrassed by the total. That being said, today is my last day as a horse bettor.

As some of you know, I grew up in Minnesota and have followed Canterbury racing since its inception. What has been going on at that track this year is public larceny. It appears to be one of, if not THE, most crooked tracks in the country. I won't bore people with the details but all I can say is if you visit my forum http://valentoraces.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=1 and read about what people are saying and doing, it will blow you away.

The same couple of trainers are winning every race regardless of the horse they send out. They are claiming off of people and moving the horse up 20 to 30 points. Just today, of the 7 races where the 3 leading trainers had a horse entered, they won 6 of them.

I am not trying to point any fingers at anyone but as a person who has invested hard earned money in the game, I feel I am entitled to state my observations of what appears to be illegitimate.

I would love to hear from others on this. I notice there are trainers winning 50% at tracks like Arlington Park, Mountaineer and Monmouth just to name a few. Is the game changing? Are these trainers winning at this high percentage because they are just that much better?

In any event, this industry mess has finally driven me from the game. Really never thought it would be possible as my love for the game has endured for a long time.

Are you really sure today is your last day? What will you do instead? Just watch and not bet?

There's always the dog track...oh wait, the same trainers win those races too.

Seems a little drastic to quit.

If I couldn't find ways to make money at my home track, I would still go to watch the live racing and just wager my money on other tracks. That is the beauty of simulcasting, you actually have a choice as to where you want to spend your money.

This guys been singing the same tune for the past year... yawn. Way I see it is if you don't like something stop doing it. Don't sit there and keep doing it and then complaining about it. We all agree that this sport is in some need of some pretty drastic changes if it is to survive, but we all love it and most of us will go down with the sinking ship. Just sayin'
