Henny Hughes maybe, but at 6F- Sun King simply no way. Hes not that great a horse to overcome the lengths he would spot horses like Henny and War Front. I dont think Songster or Too Much Bling are quite ready for the older horses yet. Siren Lure is a nice horse but hasnt exactly been beating the best sprinters in the country and I think he may be better on turf.

Thing to remember that is the BC Sprint you are going to get a very very fast pace. Sun King will get a perfect trip and a perfect pace to close into. I can see Sun King doing the same thing as Silver Train did last year.

I doubt Sun King even runs in the BC Sprint. I think hes a big time tweener (needs somewhere in between 6F and 1 1/4 miles). If he does, I just dont think the horses who run near the pace will all fold like in last years to give the closers a chance. This year's sprint promises to be a better group of horses assembled. And Sun King would be coming from farther back than Silver Train had to last year.

I think Sun King is better suited for the Sprint. I think that facing Invasor, Bernardini, Lava Man etc etc is too tall of a task. This years sprint, in my opinion, is weaker than last year. Sun King fits in better with the sprinters than the classic horses. Now all this doesnt mean that Zito wont try the Classic.

SK is a different horse when he can come off the pace, the sprint is too short for him and he fits better in the Classic. Also, he runs off-on, look for his next one to be a clunker and then he'll run a big one...

Well I agree with you on thar Euro. If I owned this horse and had to pick between the 2 races, I would have to go with the sprint and just pray for a total pace collapse. I dont see it happening but I think there is a better chance of this than him beating Lava Man or Bernardini, with any pace scenario.

Yes but you don't HAVE to choose one or the other. You could skip them both. I think he would be a pretty big longshot in either of those races. I know it is the BC and everyone wants their horse to win one, but moving this horse back and forth between 6 and 10 furlongs all the time is crazy and could screw up the horse. There is nothing wrong with being a great dirt 7-9 furlong horse and picking up a bunch of G2 and G3 wins.

Definately, the Sprint is the most logical race for this horse. I think the Classic field is going to be one of the best ever. Especially if Whitney was a fluke for Flower Alley and if Electrocutionist comes back 100%. You could have the following:

Bernardini
Invasor
Flower Alley
Electrocutionist
Lava Man
Perfect Drift
Giacomo

And I am sure I am missing a couple, but those 7 above are pretty darn good.

I agree completely. If there was a BC race on dirt run anywhere between 7 and 9 furlongs Sun King would be a big threat. I think the smart move for Zito to make with this one would be to forget about the Breeders' Cup altogether and concentrate on the stakes races run at 7, 8, and 8.5 furlongs. He could pick up his share of Ws in those.
