Scav's Howard is still very raw.
He has little to no post moves. He basically cleans up missed shots because of his atheticism. Also having him on the court during a close game and just fouling him after he gets a rebound???? He is a terrible FT shooter. I really like his athleticism, but he still is not close to what he could be as an actual basketball player. We have to have shooters and guys that can defend pick and roll out high for 3's. Some of these foreign teams have played together for a while and they really know each other. Wade and Carmello are the questions for me. Is Wade in shape? I would prefer another shooter in addition to Redd. A guy who can score long range right off the bench. |

Tim Duncan sat on the bench for 1/2 of the olympics in 2004 because the refs blew the whistle on him for looking at people wrong. I like Bosh and Boozer is tough but neither is a true center. |

........and there is the reason NBA players struggle playing the international game. They just don't adjust to the International Ref's when early fouls are called thinking they can just play NBA ball and things will be what they are used to November-June. Spain and Greece are still very much the teams that play the international game as well as the United States because those guys grew up playing those rules and style. They could have used another big body to combat early foul trouble but just don't have such a player on the roster. |

without him being the main man. He pouts and whines. Being that Coach K. is in the sanitizer this presents even more problems. I dont think K knows how to handle the pro egos. Suggested by more than a few NBA coaches, ask your cousin about this... I would like his take if possible. |

Coach K was the pick because he has no axe to grind and has the respect of everyone. I know that much already. But I will tell him that you think Carmello isnt a "winner". I'm sure he will find that rich. |

No distortions with my post. With Syracuse, he was the man. And he was playing against Children. Dont even use that comparison. What winning has he done since when it matters in the playoffs? He complains and whines. He has Iverson, the defensive MVP, and he gets taken out of his game so easily in the playoffs. I dont give a crap about him being the leading scorer, thats probably bad. And I will say it again. Carmello has no idea how to win if he is NOT the main man. He is a selfish child. Easily agitated and easily taken out of his game. What about this do you not agree with? You think he has poise? Have you actually watched the guy in games IN THE NBA when it matters? In the playoffs... He FOLDS. He gets frustrated and gives up. Tell me what you disagree with about Carmello in NBA games that count. BTW I still think we will win because of superior talent. But I think Carmello is easily replaced with someone else. Carmello is there for the kids who have his jersey. He is very popular. He should do great scoring when the US is up by 20 points and he knows he has superior talent around him. He is very gifted, I will give you that. But he is an infant as an all around basketball player and we dont need him. Can you realistically see Carmello through his superior ability to win pulling out a close game through sheer will in an important NBA game and not against guys that have no way to cover him. Coach K was picked because the NBA coaches dont want any piece of those egos at one time. Last edited by pgardn : 06-25-2008 at 02:26 PM. |
