That's not always the case. There are some owners who are very actively involved. There are some trainers that tell their owners everything. They will tell their owners exactly what is wrong with their horse. If a horse comes back from a work with a slightly puffy ankle, they will tell their owners immediately. I don't know the relationship between Jackson and Asmussen and I don't know how actively Jackson is involved. I don't know if Asmussen tells Jackson when a horse has a problem. But I would say that in general, when you have one of these big-time, smooth talking trainers working for a really rich guy that doesn't know much about horses, the owner will usually know very little about what is going on physically with his horses. |
