He comes off like an authoratative slave owner, but he's just a pretty typical Morman male (he and Miller both.) I saw the same ways from a Morman teacher in high school. The teaching profession would appear to be a natural calling for them(perfect, actually.) They are attracted to law enforcement(like Kent's motorcyle cop dad.) They like to be in positions of authority. That's why Miller is so in love with his announcing job. It's a natural position of authority.
