I have no idea what kind of condition he is in, soundness-wise but the first thing he will need (as I discussed on the GELD HIM) thread, is "brain surgery." Lop off his ...ahem...the boys and someone may want him. Maybe Cornell can send a vet student to do it.
This is the classic case of some dreamy person who thinks that all you to stand a stallion is an animal with testicles. There are worse racehorses, with worse breeding standing in NY and getting mares. IF (an it's a big if) someone had taken Watchmon at a well known farm, and promoted him and had the right professional care for him, he could have been breeding now.

I would think it would be a nice thing for Pompa (for whom he won a G2) to take him and place him in an appropriate retirement situation. If he is riding sound, find him a home. If not, make arrangements for his care. Since it looks like she got the horse for free, it's a lesson learned for this woman. Nothing in this world will ever cost you more than a free horse.

Another seemingly good hearted loon who got a spiritual message from above and decided to pawn this horse's sperm " for the children " ...

I do not buy it at all ...

Sure she may have taken the horse, and assumed reponsibility, but she obviously had an agenda---and obviously did not understand what the value of poor Watchmon was--as a stallion or an ornament ...

The 5 grand was a gift from above she failed to register in her greed for compensation and glory ...

She almost cried at the offer ??? She should have cried for not taking it ...

Praise the lord, and pass the hat---for the children ... Rubbish ...

F her, but someone needs to get the horse ...

Just to clarify,,,,when I said "I'm sick of people throwing away spent racehorses like garbage", I wasn't suggesting Pompa did that to Watchmon. I don't know the story there. Probably Pompa thought Watchmon *was* going to a great retirement home with a vet tech. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Since she is in the vet industry she, of all people, should have known that there is no such thing as a free horse. And also that it takes a lot of $$$ to stand a stallion. I'm just concerned for the horse. Having suppossedly turned down 5K for him, I doubt if she would be receptive to giving him away to someone who can assure him a forever home. Sheesh, I'd love to have him, but right now I couldn't even afford to take him for free. I'd have to shell out $$$ to transport him to Ohio and have him gelded immediately. I hope there is a happy ending awaiting.

Originally, the horse was donated to Cornell University. I'd imagine they'd have used him there as a blood donor or, since he's intact, as a teaching stallion. The article says he has a fused ankle as a result of the fracture, so he's not a candidate for becoming any sort of riding horse.

It's not clear what the circumstances were with her 'adopting' him, but I wonder if Cornell was willing to accept him, without her involvement, when Pompa first donated him.

truer words rarely spoken....in the past year I have spent over 6K saving a horse that I originally gave $1000 for, and that was charity at the time.

I'm not suggesting that Pompa has to do anything more than maybe KNOW where his horse got to. I am more than sure he would be concerned.

This lady took a lot of heat but amazingly she did donate half of what she sold him for to charity. Sometimes things just dont make sense.

Do you happen to know who she sold him to, and how much he was sold for?

Cornell needs to review what they do as well. They just had one loon employee with a cozy job there try to get rich quick off one of THEIR horses, Watchmon. A lot more responsibility from those cushy Cornell folks is needed.

Where is Watchmon now ?
