That's probably a result of bad or unlucky handicapping. Books like 'Exotic Betting' will give you the strategy, but they're not going to pick the horses for you.

It might help if you actually told us what you wanted to learn.

i dont really even know. i mainly play pick 3 and 4... once in a while i will throw in a exacta or win/place bet... but when i got to otb, or the track the gameplan is pick 3 and 4...
i dont know what i want to learn to be honest, i find my tickets normally looking like this....4-3-2
or 3-3-3-1, i always seem to catch early, be live to a nice payout and i can never close, cause im never deep in the back end ?

It could be that you're forcing yourself to go skinny towards the end of tickets. When putting together a pick four, sometimes it's tempting (especially for procrastinators) to go wide in the first few legs, while thinking "I'll just single later." A lot of times, that means you have to single a horse that shouldn't really be a single simply because you want to make the ticket affordable.

This is probably because you're glossing over the first few legs. Go back and see if you can narrow down in the early legs. Then reanalyze your single or skinny leg and see if you're forcing yourself to single a horse you don't love. If you do these things and come to the conclusion that there's no way you'll feel comfortable going one- or two-wide in any leg, PASS ON THE SEQUENCE. There will be plenty of other pick threes and fours to play, and choosing the right sequence will save and make you money.

If that's the case, then you're looking for action, not trying to make money.

You are. Read what you said again. "I never want to get knocked out early." Getting knocked out early and getting knocked out late is exactly the same if your primary goal is to make a profit.

Good Point!
When you go to OTB, do you handicap before you get there or do you do it on the fly? Also are you betting every race going off?

So you are bashing Exotic Bashing cause it doesn't work while not even trying the A-B-C-X method on your Pick 4s?

You still haven't addressed my suggestion that you're betting mainly for action.

You admitted that you "never want to get knocked out early".. What's the difference between getting knocked out early and getting knocked out late?
