HBO had an awesome documentary on Jim McKay in the last year or two (memory is shot). It showed a bunch of Wide World of Sports stuff as well as the tragic Munich Olympics hostage crisis that made him a mainstream (not just sports) star. Also, great stories told by Jim to go along with the footage.
Here's hoping they revive it so I can put it on a DVD. |

It's "amazing" that Jim McKay became a sports broadcasting legend, and he did it without the shouting, schtick, and stupidity that infects today's sportscasting . . .
