The was a Quadalcanal in the early to mid 60's. He may have been in Quadrangle's Belmont.
The WWII battle site, Quadalcanal is mostly forested and is known most for mosquitoes and malaria. It is an island in the Pacific, part of the Solomon Islands.
Please tell me that you just got that information off Wikipedia and not off the top of your head.
