why do they get so excited? 40 years ago they did much more difficult landings and takeoffs on the moon. now they do hi fives simply to crash land?

They wanted to do something to recognize the record 11 explosions in Mr. Garden's physics lab this month.

Maybe working a project for 15 years has something
to do with it.

It has to come down intact to get
information from the probes. We have learned
so much more from these missions than sending
people up which is infinitely more expensive
and not nearly as productive in gathering
information.

Yeah, I saw they crashed already.

I was pretty big into the planets as a kid, and still am, one of my goals is when I get situated and become a balla is to have a deck on top of my house with a real SERIOUS telescope to blaze up planets when they are available to see.....

less productive yes, but it has to be more difficult to land and takeoff upright flawlessly over and over like they did on the moon. it seems to me that it takes us longer now to do simpler things.

The moon was a huge acheivement.
You are correct.

I just hope we stay away from Mars with
humans right now. It would be enormously
expensive.
