Yes, I saw that race. He got that horse into some trouble. I don't know if she could have won the race or not. She had room late on the rail but she flattened out a little. When a horse finds some room and then just makes a mediocre run, I'm not going to say that they would have won the race. This filly might have made a better late run if she was outside. She may not have liked being down on the rail. There's no way to know for sure.

Anyway, these guys get into trouble in full fields sometimes. Solis got his horse in a ton of trouble in the 7th at Del Mar today. It's hard to tell if she would have done anything with a good ride. She made a little, late run after having a lot of trouble. I doubt she could have won but she had a pretty bad trip. By the way, I had no action on either of those races so I had no emotional stake on the outcome.

Again, he should be an easy throw out in every race for you. I know I feel that way about some jockeys like Mike Luzzi. Except of course yesterday on the Dog.

Hes got to be incredibly stupid Rup, he just has to be. Why would you break so well and angle over and do everything right, then see a guy coming outside whos gonna lock you in and not do anything about it. I truly think the guy likes trouble. I think he gets a thrill out of doing things the hard way.

I don't think he saw that guy coming outside of him. It was a really premature move that the other rider made. It happened just past the half-mile pole. I think it totally caught Gomez by surprise because it was such a sudden, premature move by the other rider and it happened very quickly. It was definitely Gomez' fault. You have to be paying attention and expect the unexpected. You can't let someone come outside of you at that point in the race. It would have forced Gomez to move sooner than he would have liked, but you don't have much choice at that point in the race. Once in a while you will see horses still win after getting passed at that point, but it doesn't happen often.

Its not like i wake up each day hoping the little twerp will give a bad ride I can talk about you know? I wish he would just ride well. But he really gives rides like that one about once a day and its just plain unprofessional to be so stupid. Really dislike the man, I really do. I can see now why he got into so much trouble.

I don't think it was so much a case of stupidity on Gomez' part. I think Coa pretty much outwitted him in the race. Coa's move was not a move that I would normally recommend, but in this case it was a good tactical decision that was probably made on the spot based on the circumstances. I think Coa saw that he had a chance to trap Gomez and Coa probably thought that Gomez was on the horse to beat. I think this was actually the type of thing that Scuds has talked about.

By the way, it's not always as easy as you think to react to a move like the move that Coa made. These horses don't all have push-button acceleration. Gomez' horse was just cruising down the backstretch. Coa kind of gunned his horse at that one instant. If Gomez didn't see the move immediately, which I don't think he did, it was too late for him to do anything. The other horse got the jump on him. These guys don't have four eyes. They only have two. They try to be aware of what is going on around them and they will often take a peak over their shoulders, but they can't see everything.

I think Coa basically outsmarted Gomez in the race. Coa is becoming a very good rider.

I cant remember the race, but I saw EBAR get a horse thru close to the wire on the rail. I still cant believe he got the horse thru. You just dont see many horses on the dirt slipping by at near the rail at the tail end of the race. It was so odd I tried to find it on racereplays for a head on but I cant find it... Anyone see this? It was either on Friday or Sunday. I really want to see what was happening.

He brought Swap Flipparoo up the rail in the Test on Saturday. I don't know if that's what you're thinking of.
