You should do some research on the difference.

PETA and most of the other animal rights groups would BAN horse racing if they could and will try, this incident is one of the many ways they go about it. Little baby steps until no one realizes they are running at you full steam ahead and something you loved is gone, so they can pet the pretty horses.

What are you talking about? If you actually read what I wrote, I clearly made the distinction. I'm pro-animal rights, and generally anti-PETA.

You're definitely right. There's a bigger difference than I thought. My mistake.

The point I was trying to make is that "Ethical Treatment of Animals" is a good thing at its core, but PETA has turned it into a joke and has turned people off of the sentiment because of their absurdity.

I also very much agree with standing up for the rights of all animals. Our family has taken in some dogs that nobody wanted, we just took in a pit bull that we previously had before and gave him back to the vet that we got him from. We heard he was just a few hours away from being put to sleep, My wife and I would not be able to look into the mirror every day if this dog was put to sleep. He has destroyed some more of our furniture but we deal with it. I completely disagree with the way PETA is going about it. This organization is trying to take advantage of a tragic event to get back into the limelight again. Kind of reminds me of Al Sharpton and the rest of his goon squad. If Eight Belles was hurting in any way shape or form she would of been scratched. If her jockey sensed that anything was wrong with the way she warming up for the race, I am very confident that he would of asked for a vet to look her over. Why PETA is trying to blame him is a complete disgrace. He wasn't going to put his life and other jockeys and horses lives at risk. He is a pretty smart jockey for his young age. But I guess PETA is looking to get back into the limelight now that the Michael Vick story has died down.

I am a huge advocate for Pit bulls and other large power breeds.

All animalls should be treated ethically. Unfortunately PETA took that name and they are a very, very bad group.
Actually during the huge animal response during Katrina PETA was shunned and banned by most of the responders and animal welfare groups.
There are many groups that truly are about animal welfare, are not part of the lunatic fringe element and do very good things.
