This would be a great question for Robert Fox, who is a member here and a regular on the show. You can also ask a couple of trainers and hopefully you'd get an unbiased opinion.

I've looked at a few in the past to claim. Ultiamtely, as with many claimers, you pass for a variety of reasons. One of the reasons that has come up here, very generically, is that IMO, for the most part, there is a notion out there that they tend not to "hold up". Some people haven't seen them as durable racehorses who can stand up to training, works, etc. and racing on a day in/day out, week in/week out, and month after month basis. Maybe true, maybe not. But perception often becomes the reality in this game.

I watched a lot of them come out and I did see that after a few starts -- 3 or 4, maybe a few more -- they seemed to get "off" or need some time, had to back off, etc. I can't say that as 3yo's they were underdeveloped as a whole and needed more time, but trainers would be qualified to answer that -- especially as to how they hold up. Confirmation is one thing. What and how that confirmation plays out is something different.

Good luck.

Eric
