Quick question, will the G3 race today that has been taken off the turf count towards Graded stakes earning? or does the race lose the graded status because of the surface switch???

Pretty sure it loses it's grade.

That is what I thought, but I am not 100%....Because if it doesn't, this worked out perfect for Barrier Reef. Maybe the Shiek has the greatest weather predictor ever and this was all part of his plan

Not necessarily... they "regrade" it after seeing who scratches and stays in. My guess is it will NOT lose it's grade, as they've been kind in the past on turf-to-poly if the main contenders stay in (such as last year's Jenny Wiley).

why does it matter ? the horse is well bred for turf.

lets say it stayed on the turf, he runs big...
they could still sneak into the derby.
not that it matters anyway, because the mott horses are just better
