People can criticize the competition that Curlin ran against, but the fact of the matter is that right now no one is in his league.

Vermilion is a multiple G1 winner in Japan and though he showed little, he was not lacking for credentials. He won his last 4 races against good horses.
I was pleased with Asiatic Boy, I hear he may come to the US. He was very much a proven commodity having swept the 3yo races there last season, then taking on G1 milers on grass in Europe. he's better on dirt and showed it today. Jalil should have done more but he was very much untested against good runners.

I did think he had a shot at beating Great Hunter home...that didn't happen though. If Happy Boy was remotely sound and healthy he would have oblieterated horses like Asiatic Boy, Well Armed, and Great Hunter. |

Asiatic I believe is going to the States after what happened to him last year... He might have to change trainers for that, Im not too sure. He'll be a very solid 8-9f horse on dirt. I dont think he quite sees the last one home..
Happy Boy looked brilliant in the 1st round, and it could be good that he didnt run today as he was way behind schedule and none of Godolphin's horses ran particularly well. It could have been a disaster for him.
