Here's a lovely quote from the Haskin article:

“I had 25 family members there and everyone was having a great time,” LaPenta said. “When the horse walked past the stands he looked like Adonis; he was gorgeous.

That's right - yesterday Haskin runs a piece with a LaPenta quote from last Thursday where he compared him to the 1977 Wood Memorial winner.

Today Haskin runs a piece with a LaPenta quote from after the race where he compares him with the 1999 Wood Memorial winner.

Adonis might have been the worst Wood winner ever!

In all seriousness, all this War Pass stuff is getting real old. Unless it's Roger Stein who is being quoted, I just don't care to read it anymore.

...

He was comparing the horse to mythical Adonis.

He was probably too enraptured with his own reflection to read the whole thing.

Or was that the greedy dog with the bone?

i thought that was narcissus.

actually, if i was going to give mr. lapenta a hard time, it would be for saying a horse looked like adonis-that sounds kind of cheesy. hell, bad enough he's saying the horse looked like slew, now he's saying he looked like an immortal...what next?!?!

No, Narcissus thought he was Adonis and drowned when he saw that his reflection was really that of an ugly hillbilly.

Either that, or Narcissus was the Greek name for Adonis...or maybe he was Adonis' boyfriend.

I'm not really sure, but I'm getting reports recently that Moses was high on hallucinogens when he wrote all this sh!t down on the Dead Sea Scrolls.

i think buddha could give tapit a run for that spot. tapit did manage the laurel futurity as well.
but it's close.

Buddha? He was good, if short lived. He would have been the Derby favorite. Tapit is unopposed in this pseudo contest.

Budha outran a very game Medaglia D'oro. Unfortunately he suffered a career ending injury just days before the Ky Derby. He was legit...

i just think a good horse should have more than one good race to show why he's a good horse. the wood is buddhas one and only, isn't it?
but i do agree tapit was pretty bad!

yes it was his only stakes win after jumping up from a allw at Gp in which he ran a faster race on the same card as the Florida Derby.

He was 3 for 3, and his first two were monster wins in a MSW and an ALW race. He won both by open lengths and with big figures, a 96 and a 106 in the ALW.
